At the invitation of the Lions Club of Melbourne Chinese, members of the Lions Club of Melbourne She Rises joined a special Lunar New Year visit to a local aged care home.

Although the visit lasted only a short time, it reminded us that meaningful service isn't measured by hours—it's measured by the connections we create. Through conversations, laughter, music and warm New Year wishes, we shared precious moments with the residents, bringing smiles to their faces and warmth to their hearts.

One of the most touching lessons from the day was that companionship is one of the greatest gifts we can offer. Sometimes people don't need grand gestures; they simply need someone to spend time with, listen to them and let them know they are remembered.

This experience also reminded our members that community service is not only about helping others—it is about growing ourselves. Every act of kindness deepens our compassion, strengthens our gratitude and inspires us to continue serving with purpose.

We are grateful to the Lions Club of Melbourne Chinese for inviting us to be part of this meaningful visit and for allowing us to share in the joy of giving.
